Academic Business Incubators help young individuals enter the world of business thanks to our innovative, world-class method of operating a business within the framework of an ABI division (in the course of the preincubation programme), without the need to establish a private enterprise, which reduces costs, paperwork and the risk to young entrepreneurs and enables them to focus on the development of their own business venture.

1. Operation as an Incubator division.

Because of its innovative legal solutions, the ABI Foundation is capable of allowing young people to operate under its own legal personality, enabling them to establish their own enterprises functioning from a formal perspective as an organisational division of ABI, and for all practical purposes being their own business ventures. This enables a young entrepreneur to both shorten the time required for starting a private enterprise as a legal entity and reduce the resources required in the process. Furthermore, an individual operating an enterprise within ABI is not registered as an entrepreneur operating a one-man business and is not therefore required to pay ZUS social insurance contributions for entrepreneurs and can still benefit from aid programmes reserved for individuals not operating their own enterprises for a given time period.

Furthermore, operating within ABI strengthens the credibility of entrepreneurs pursuing business ventures - their business matters are represented by the ABI Foundation, with its main headquarters situated in Warsaw, several dozen regional affiliates throughout Poland and an annual turnover of two dozen mln. PLN. Operating under the legal personality of ABI is the main source of security for young entrepreneurs - in a legal dispute (which are commonplace in business) such an individual is not left alone to "fend for oneself", but can count on the Foundation's support in solving such disputes.

Thus far over 3000 people have decided to operate as an ABI division.

2. Business accounting managed by an accounting firm.
co_daje_2_lHaving registered a business within ABI, a young entrepreneur receives support in accounting. All accounting documents, which number over 9000 a month, are verified (received) and created (issued) by Incubator personnel and then sent to the ABI Finance & Accountancy Division in Warsaw to enter in the books. ABI ensures that all documents are drawn up in accordance with prevailing laws and entered into books and that proper authorities are notified on time. Young entrepreneurs can therefore focus on trying out their business ideas without the risk of making mistakes in their financial settlements and the fear of bureaucratic red tape in offices. Our consulting services are provided in such a way as to teach entrepreneurs operating within ABI the procedures and principles of handling accounting documents from scratch and all intricacies of operating a private enterprise.
3. Legal counseling.

To ensure the comfort of operating an enterprise without the risk associated with entering into agreements, legal counseling for ABI entrepreneurs is included in the service. Counseling is provided by lawyers from the ABI Legal Division, which is supervised and operated by one of the best law firms in Poland. ABI entrepreneurs may allocate their time to receive legal counseling on operating a private enterprise, send in legal documents for verification or draft up custom agreements from scratch. The ABI Legal Division provides over 200 instances of legal advice pertaining to enterprise operation per month.

Apart from operating under the legal personality of ABI, this is the second source of security for inexperienced entrepreneurs who wish to pursue a business venture.

4. Independent business bank account.
co_daje_4_l Each business operating within the ABI preincubation program will receive its own, independent bank account, which will hold all profits made in its operation.
5. Counseling and know-how on private enterprise operation.
co_daje_5_lThe pursuit of knowledge is a key component of operating a private enterprise. From the moment of establishing their enterprise within ABI until leaving the Foundation, young entrepreneurs can count on the support of ABI personnel pertaining to counseling on enterprise operation - from the rudiments of starting one's business to counseling on marketing, public relations, accounting, law and choosing the right legal framework for enterprise operation after leaving ABI.
6. Media promotion.

One of the most important elements of starting a business is smart promotion. Most companies, those started by young entrepreneurs in particular, do not have a satisfying initial budget for promotion. Due to its activities, ABI is able to promote its companies in the media at both the local and the national level.

Each year, the media covers both ABI and the companies operating within its Foundation in several thousand items of publicity. Its best companies are promoted on the largest Polish web-portals (WP, Onet, Interia, Gazeta.pl), in daily, weekly and monthly press (Rzeczpospolita, Gazeta Wyborcza, Puls Biznesu, Wprost, Newsweek), on the radio and on regional and national TV stations (TV Biznes, TVN CNBC).

7. Direct access to office space and the option to adopt the address of the Incubator as the enterprise address.

In the course of the program companies are permitted access to office space on the premises of the Incubator (as available in particular affiliates), which serves as a rudimentary workspace for operating a private enterprise.

Initial costs of business operation are minimised thanks to the availability of free-of-charge broadband Internet, telephones and faxes, printers and other office utilities. This is a crucial factor in planning a business venture and thanks to their availability, young entrepreneurs are able to focus on developing their business pursuits. Larger Incubators provide the option of using their office space on an open-space basis.

Incubators are situated on the premises of universities, most often in the more lucrative districts of large cities. The option of adopting the address of the Incubator as the enterprise address provides ABI entrepreneurs with a crucial competing edge.

8. Free-of-charge access to classroom space with multimedia resources.

Academic Business Incubators are situated on the premises of institutions of higher education, which means they are capable of providing access to classrooms (as available in each Incubator) with multimedia resources for presentations and training sessions to satisfy the business needs of its entrepreneurs.

ABI entrepreneurs are given access to such premises to hold courses, recruitment meetings, meetings with clients and for any other reason pertaining to enterprise operation. This advantage will reduce costs considerably for companies functioning as education or training centres or dependent on holding meetings.

9. Organisation of business meetings and help in finding business connections.
co_daje_9_l

Academic Business Incubators strive to build a nationwide community of young, innovative entrepreneurs by means of operating a business meeting program and establishing business connections between its partners.

10. Support in obtaining investment funds.
co_daje_10_l

Academic Business Incubators are not limited to providing tools for operating a private enterprise. We also operate a wide network of connections within business communities and make such connections available to young entrepreneurs starting up their own companies. Due to the support of ABI, projects can receive support in obtaining investment funds from national and local government sources, commercial credits or EU operational aid programmes.

Those projects which are the most innovative are analysed and financed by one of the first seed funds in Poland created with young entrepreneurs in mind - ABI Seed Capital. Furthermore, such projects can be analysed by Venture Capital funds or private investors operating within the Business Angels Network Poland group.
